As we continue in our Christmas Series, “A Nativity Story” today we consider the Shepherd, but not in the way we usual do when we think about the Nativity narrative. The ones who received the birth announcement from the angels, who traveled to Bethlehem to see the reality of this announcement with their own eyes, who then left, spreading the news as they went. Today we consider the relationship between the Shepherd and the sheep, and how Jesus, “The Good Shepherd” became a sheep (human) in order to seek us, lift us, unite us and hold us close to his heart. Jesus expresses this with his words that we read in John 10:14: 14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—" (NIV). All videos are used with permission.
